There is a lot of familiarity: It's another aspect of this rivalry that makes it so great. Utah coach Kyle Whittingham has been at Utah as either the head coach or an assistant every season since , but he went to school and played linebacker at BYU.
His first two years on the sideline as a coach were at BYU, too. Whittingham and Sitake have a lot in common, and perhaps that's what drew them together when Sitake spent 10 seasons as an assistant at Utah under Whittingham, including the final three seasons as the assistant head coach.
If you watched BYU last year, though, it's going to look a lot different this week. The biggest difference is that Zach Wilson is no longer around. Last year's offensive coordinator, Jeff Grimes, is gone as well after taking the same position at Baylor. So don't be surprised if the Cougars don't look as explosive as they did throughout last season.

Wilgar also had a few tackles for loss and combined with Herron to break up four passes. Brewer shakily completed 15 of 26 passes for yards, a touchdown and an interception. Utes running back Micah Bernard was perhaps the most explosive performer of the night, running for yards on 12 carries with a touchdown.
Utah linebackers Devin Lloyd and Nephi Sewell piled up 13 and 11 tackles each, respectively. After officially joining the Big 12 conference on Friday and reclaiming rivalry bragging rights a day later, a strong case could be made to call the past week the greatest in BYU history. Nacua, the former Ute who scored in the rivalry while at Utah, was flagged for an unsportsmanlike penalty after the play, which cost BYU as it missed a point-after attempt pushed back 15 yards by the penalty.
