Kawasaki jet ski stx-12f manual

The SLO mode reduces the maximum watercraft speed by approximately 30 percent for a use by unskilled operators. To facilitate actual operations, notes, illustrations, photographs, cautions, and detailed descriptions have been included in each chapter wherever necessary. This section explains the items that require particular attention during the removal and reinstallation or disassembly and reassembly of general parts.

Especially note the following:. You need the following items to use the KDS. The connectors for the communication cable and relay cable are located in the front of the battery.

Connect the communication cable to the KDS connector 4-pin [A] and the relay cable between the relay assembly [B] connectors 8-pin [C].

Adjustments Adjustments shall be made in accordance with the Periodic Maintenance Chart or whenever troubleshooting or presence of symptoms indicate that adjustments may be required. Whenever running of the engine is required during maintenance it is best to have the watercraft in water. CAUTION Do not run the engine without cooling water supply for more than 15 seconds, especially in high revolutionary speed or severe engine and exhaust system damage will occur.

Auxiliary Cooling An auxiliary cooling supply may be used if the watercraft cannot be operated in water during adjustments. If possible, always operate the watercraft in water rather than use an auxiliary cooling supply. Garden Hose Fitting of Adapter D. Flushing Fitting of Adapter E. The engine requires 2. Excessive cooling supply may kill the engine and flood the cylinders, causing hydraulic lock.

Hydraulic lock will cause severe damage to the engine. A back-and-forth motion will not produce a smooth edge. Take care not to nick the smooth surface of the jet impeller. Excessive nicking or pitting will create water turbulence and slow the flow of water through the pump. For more details on impeller replacement or service, please refer to the information on Jet Drives in the Gearcase section of this manual. Poor operation of the jet drive depends maximum thrust.

In order fir this to occur the clearance between the outer edge of the jet drive impeller and the water intake housing cone wall should be maintained at approximately 0. This distance can be checked visually by shining a flashlight up through the intake grille and estimating the distance between the impeller and the casing cone, as indicated in the accompanying illustrations. But, it is not humanly possible to accurately measure this clearance by eye. Close observation between outings is fine to maintain a general idea of impeller condition, but, at least annually, the clearance must be measured using a set of feeler gauges.

Although some gauges may be long enough to make the measurement with the intake grate installed, removal is advised for access and to allow for a more thorough inspection of the impeller itself. Whenever working around the impeller, ALWAYS disconnect the negative battery cable and disconnect the spark plug leads to make sure the engine cannot be accidentally started during service. Failure to heed this caution could result in serious personal injury or death in the event that the engine is started.

If a modification has been made since then, differences may exist between the content of these Kawasaki JetSki manuals and the actual watercraft. Persons without such knowledge and skills should attempt with caution to service any component or engine by relying on this manual only.

Never attempt to perform any work with out the assistance of a service manual. Improper repair may result in injury to the mechanic and may render the watercraft unsafe for the JetSki operator and passengers.

Fix-Your Problems now with these service manuals available for download. Spark Plug Remove and inspect the spark plugs. Are the spark plugs wet? Spark Test Perform spark test. Is there a weak spark or no spark? Fuel Injection System Check the fuel injection system. Is the fuel injection system normal? Engine Starting Condition Start the engine by following the normal procedure.

Does the engine start and then stop? Cylinder Compression Test cylinder compression. Is the compression low? Does your NEW battery drop to 8v or was that the previous ones? If compression is to specs and battery is staying up in the v range, it should be okay to go.. Careful you don't fry it.

Did timing marks stay put with tensioner installed? I probably don't have much else to contribute at this time. Will opt-out if someone else has more specific solutions. Your call.. Both Battteries did the same plus used a charger to boost the Voltage and got the same result. Yes the timing marks were dead on after several revolutions. Thanks for chatting with me I appreate you time and patience. I would really like to Chat with some one who has done a few Engines all models have the same set up.

Thanks, Bob.
